These questions and comments relate to the sermon on 16 October 2022, Ask Seek Knock.  The primary scripture is Matthew 7:7-12.

1.  The form of Greek verbs in verses 7-8 are very important.  Ask, seek, and knock are intended to be present and continual action, not just a one-time event.  How does that inform our understanding of Jesus' teaching here?

2.  Do we need to continue to ask, seek, and knock so that God pays attention and knows we are serious?  What other reasoning could there be?

3.  Whose will is being shaped in this practice?

4.  Remember that Jesus had already addressed prayer, and we learn something about what to ask in the model prayer (6:9-13).

5.  Also, the beatitudes in chapter 5 tell us about the blessings in store for kingdom citizens.  How do verses 7:9-11 relate to the beatitudes?

6.  So, if you haven't covered this ground already, for what should we ask?  How do we seek God continually?  What does it mean to keep on knocking on his door?

7.  How does verse 12 relate to the instruction on praying and blessing?

8.  Sneek a peek at the invitation that follows in verses 13-14.
