This blog relates to the sermon on 21 August 2022, No Shortcuts.  The primary scripture is Matthew 5:13-20.  The sermon can be heard on this website and the Lawn Baptist YouTube channel.

Followers of Jesus continue to be salt and light to the world when we live in obedience to God's word.

1.  What were the uses of salt in Jesus' day?  How does the analogy inform our spiritual walk?

2.  If Jesus is the light of the world, and he told his followers to light up the world, what did he expect them to do?

3.  At what point did Jesus expect them to become salt and light?

4.  Are we the source of light?  How can we be light to the world?

5.  How do we become salty?

6.  Why do you think Jesus moved from salt and light to the topic of God's law?

7.  Why are we not required to participate in temple sacrifice and observe the feasts of Ancient Israel as Moses instructed? (for help see the Book of Hebrews, New Testament)

8.  Jesus said he came to fulfill the law.  Read the remainder of Matthew 5 for examples of what he meant.
